Technology is advancing at a phenomenal rate, almost as fast as the growth  of data!

Have you ever thought how New Technologies can be achieved by investing in the management of existing data?

Managing SAP data in a succinct manner can reduce overall costs across your SAP Landscape, releasing budget to spend on New Innovative technologies.

How Have we arrived at this conclusion?

SAP Data Management falls under a large umbrella of solutions, but in short data (be that business complete, obsolete, or legacy systems) which is no longer offering any value to the business is moved to a more cost effective tier of storage or deleted (dependent on business requirements) and managed in a secure and compliant manner until its retention period is reached, and ready for deletion.  This data is still accessible for auditing and reporting within its retention period, should it be required, but is costing the business much less, thus releasing IT budget for the said ‘New Innovative Technologies’.

How can we start to look at the cost saving with this approach?

One of the simplest ways to see how much you can save across your SAP Landscape is to start to look at your data to determine what can be removed and what can be moved to cheaper tier storage and what can stay on your production system.

Sounds Complicated?

Not at all!

Proceed have developed, over a period of time solutions to save time and effort when it comes to SAP Data Management. One of which is our unique Complimentary SAP Data Assessment, where we analyse data provided by you (this is non-confidential data) from which we produce a report that gives an in-depth view of what data can be deleted, what data can be moved to cheaper storage and what can be kept online, safely with minimal risk.  Also within the report we give suggestions for ongoing data management to create an almost’ flat line’ in growth and finally approximate cost savings should a SAP Data Management strategy be completed and adhered to.

Ok, so how do we start exploring this?

Firstly, a decision needs to be made on what your plans are, for instance are you planning a HANA migration or not, do you have a large number of legacy systems which need to be decommissioned?, what systems are you looking at (ERP, CRM, SRM, BW)?  Once decided, choose from one of our Complimentary Assessments below, if you are unable to decide, Contact Us, we are happy to assist.

RightSizing Data in Readiness for HANA Assessment –  This assessment will give an in-depth report of your SAP data, ideally prior to making any decisions on HANA Appliances.  The report will give guidance on what data can be migrated to HANA, what can be retained on lower cost storage and what can be deleted, along with the added bonus of should a similar data management strategy is completed what potential savings are possible on the HANA appliance/s. Business Suite Assessment or BW Assessment please chose accordingly.

SAP Data Assessment for Business Suite –  Remaining on ERP, SRM, CRM for the foreseeable future, but data growth is becoming an issue?  perhaps you are being forced to consider a hardware refresh and would like to extend the life-cycle?  As above this complimentary assessment will give guidance on what data you can safely dispose of, what to archive and what to retain on your production system/s, thus controlling data growth and reducing system TCO.

SAP BW Data Volume Assessment –  This assessment is as above, but without the HANA piece. As in the Assessment for Business Suite, but for BW.  taking control of data growth.

SAP Legacy Decommissioning Assessment – The costs of keeping legacy systems running in the background on a ‘just in case’ basis is a very expensive exercise.  Decommissioning Legacy systems, keeps the required data available for reporting and auditing, and eliminates costs such as licensing, hardware, maintenance, power etc, which gives a significant increase of IT budget to invest in new technologies.  Our complimentary  Assessment will give a concise view of what savings can be made.
