Preparing for a future move to SAP S/4HANA, The Compass Group, and wanted to manage its growing SAP data more effectively. Our archiving project reduced the size of the database by close to 50%, with the remaining historical data moved into the archive. This delivered immediate performance and storage benefits and helped prepare the organisation for a smoother and faster transition to SAP S/4HANA.
After moving to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, OCI needed to retire their old ECC and S/4HANA Private Edition systems whilst keeping decades of historical data accessible for legal, tax, and audit purposes. With Proceed Cella Cloud we extracted all valuable data, established a 5-year retention model, and decommissioned the legacy systems completely.

The solution involved diving deep into the Council’s data to identify an effective data archiving and blocking strategy using SAP ILM. WML, a consumer-facing company, faced challenges aligning with EU’s GDPR due to complex data retention needs across different departments. Recommended by SAP Netherlands, WML sought our help to determine their data access and data retention requirments as well as implement SAP ILM and SAP IQ for GDPR compliance, setting up data blocking and controlled deletion of sensitive data.
With more than 40,000 students and employees, Helsinki University needed to get a better handle on the massive amounts of personal data in its SAP systems to ensure it was complying with GDPR. The IT team engaged Proceed Group to provide a blueprint for future implementation, using findings conducted from an analysis of the current SAP landscape. With the blueprint delivered by Proceed, the Helsinki University IT team now has a good overview of how to meet GDPR compliance within its SAP systems and can build the needed data lifecycle management rules into the system.
Post-acquisition of US-based firm CP Kelco’s CMC business, Nouryon Specialty Chemicals faced the challenge of accessing the business’s historical information and data. To manage compliance and provide information for necessary future audits, Nouryon sought the help of Proceed and their decommissioning tool Proceed Cella. Proceed Cella was able to extract 1.6 TB of data in just 12 days, providing Nouryon with a secure and efficient way to archive their historical data.
Nederlandse Spoorwegen (Dutch Rail), the main passenger railway operator in the Netherlands, partnered with Proceed to implement SAP Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) for legacy systems decommissioning and to control data growth in S/4HANA. Faced with a drop in passenger numbers due to Covid-19 and a shift towards agile work methods, Dutch Rail needed a flexible IT system. With ILM, Dutch Rail achieved a secure, adaptable IT landscape, cut legacy SAP system maintenance costs by 50%, and reduced energy consumption.
Moving to AWS cloud meant NGN needed to decommission their legacy storage solution. Due to statutory legalities, the old data needed to be accessible within their SAP environment. Using OpenText’s Archive Centre, Proceed successfully migrated all documents and created link table entries in AWS SAP. NGN has now completely removed the old data centre, achieving significant reductions in infrastructure spend, and a leaner data environment.
For a smoother migration process and to reduce costs, Derbyshire County Council, together with Proceed, created an archiving strategy to ensure the existing data infrastructure was as lean as possible prior to the move and that any future data was set to be automatically archived if required but still accessible.
Ahead of a migration from on-prem to new AWS cloud servers, Premier Foods needed to streamline their data landscape without losing access to crucial historical data or impacting their end users. To manage database size and future growth, Proceed Group installed OpenText Data Archiving for SAP Solutions and successfully archived 14.7m documents, achieving significant ongoing savings and IT efficiencies.
With SAP ECC being replaced by S/4HANA by 2027, organisations like Gloucestershire County Council, are making early strides to prepare for the move, and reviewing the data that sits within their systems to ensure a most efficient transition that is both cost-effective and space efficient. This left the business with a number of issues, including some documents that were supposed to be archived, that were still not.
